1976 Press Photo Guardian Building Skyramp

Caption: 'Skyramp' Is InstalledDetroit's "Skyramp" was hoisted to its new home 183 feet above Larned Street Sunday, providing a pedestrian connection between the Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. Building and the Guardian Building. The bridge was lifted into place by one of the world's largest cranes with a 250-foot boom. The bridge will be fireproofed and have a self-cleaning porcelain skin applied. The $440,000 project is expected to be completed by mid-October.
