Caption: If the customer of the 80's wanted a brown dye, Mr. Smith reached not for a package, but for his ax. The dyestuff came in mats of 100 pounds or more, and the pharmacist chopped off a chunk large enough to meet the customer's needs. Mr. Smith shows the old way, Miss Cucchi the new.
