Description
Caption: Sons of Harvard Honor Its Founder--Cambridge, Mass. (l-r)--Herbert Irwin, President of the Harvard Memorial Society, Daniel Burbank, Chairman of the celebration; Dean W.L. Sperry of Harvard and Wilder Foote of Harvard, placing the wreath at the base of the statue of John Harvard, in commemoration of the 327th Anniversary of the birthday of the founder of the university. Actually, the statue on which the wreath was placed is not the likeness of Harvard's founder. Daniel Chester French, the sculptor, could find no portrait of John Harvard, and he modeled the figure from Sherman Hoar, a Harvard graduate of 1892.

The front and back of this photograph are pictured below.
