Caption: Earl Goins of Det receives plaque from TAS board member Tomi Jackson, People, Earl Goins of Detroit, who sheltered and fed a homeless family of six when he found them wandering on the should of I-75, has been awarded the Concerned Citizen Commendation from the Travelers Aid Society of Detroit. The penniless parents and four children, who had come to Detroit in an unsuccessful search for work, had been evicted from a relative's home without transportation or money. "The generosity and spirit of caring by Earl Goins is an example to us all," said Marth Wylie, society director.
