Caption: Australian KURRAY ROSE (left) of the University of Southern California, winner of the 1500-meter Free-style swimming event at Yale University tonight, gives playfull hug to Alam Somers (right) of the Indianapolis Athletic Club who placed second. The event opened the 1959 Senior National A.A.U. Swimming Championships, running to April 4th. Rose's winning time was 18;18.4 and Somers 18:20.8.
