THE FIXXAdam Woods, 32, is the drummer and co-songwriter for the British pop band currently touring to promote its new album, "Walkabout," The Fixx will open for the Moody Blues at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Pine Knob Music Theatre, Sashabaw Road I-75, Clarkston. Call 1-423-6666, 8-10 daily.ON "PHANTOMS:" After scoring hit albums with "Shuttered Room" and "Reach the Beach," the Fixx suffered poor sales and low air play for its third album, 1984's "Phantoms." "We weren't disappointed in what we managed to do in the end. We were disappointed in the singles the record company released. We didn't think 'Sunshine in the Shade' or 'Are We Ourselves' were representative of the album. Then again, it's all about risks, isn't it?"ON LYRICS: "We do pay a great deal of attention to lyrics. If the music comes first and the lyrics are added on to it, then music may change to something we think would support the atmosphere of the lyrics. "Saved by Zero" is an example. The original music was nothing like what turned out; the music didn't sound like zero, didn't have that minimalism, that groove we felt the song needed."ON ATTITUDE: The Fixx's early albums were marked by the group's gloomy lyrical outlook, but the lyrics on "Walkabout" are notably more positive. "When we wrote the 'Shuttered Room' album, we never had money to go anywhere. It was written from stuff we'd read and seen on TV, a lot of negative things. As we started to travel, we began to realize that it's not all that good to let all your opinions be shaped by the media. It was like 'God, life isn't as bad as I though it was."Gary Gratt, Free Press Music Writer.
