1965 Press Photo Ron Clarke running 5000-meter record

Caption: Clarke Betters 5,000 Meter Record - Ron Clarke of Australia crosses the finish line to win the 5,000-meter run at Hobart, Tasmania, today and better the world record for the distance with a clocking of 13 minutes, 34.6 seconds. Clarke finished more than 400 meters ahead of his nearest rival and cut four-tenths of a second off the mark set by Vladimir Kuts of Russia in Rome on Oct. 13, 1957.
