Description
The Alabama Junior College Conference All-Sports Trophy has found a new home at Jefferson State Junior College. The award goes each year to the school among Alabama's 27 junior colleges in compiling the most points in 12 areas of athletic competition. But, for the first three years of its existence, the trophy remained at Calhoun Community College at Decatur. Jefferson State, second twice and third once, finally got to the top this year. The Pioneers, who lost by half a point last year, piled up 120.5 points this year, followed by Calhoun, 114.5; Chattahoochee Valley, 105.5, and Gadsden State, 100. Shown with the trophy are, from left, Jefferson State Athletic Director Bill Lankford, school President Doctor George Layton, Fred Posey of Pepsi Cola, which presents the trophy each year, and Doctor James Van Horn, commissioner of the Alabama Junior College Conference.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 05-26-1979.
