Description
Alabama - Governor Fob James used a blackboard to make his point Thursday when he went before the Legislature with his proposal for a 4-cents per gallon gasoline tax increase. James told the joint session of the two houses that figuring the average driver puts 15,000 miles a year on a car with an average car getting 15 miles a gallon, this would cost the average driver $40 a year. The governor told the legislators he would take to the campaign trail if necessary to generate pressure on the Legislature to pass his package of road bills.
