The Hall-Kent Elementary School PTO in Homewood recently honored three people for their decade of service to the Homewood school system. Pictured from left to right are Gene Burgess, school principal, presenting the plaques; Doctor Mamie L. Foster, member of the school board since its beginning; G. Virgil Nunn, first superintendent of the Homewood school system; and Mayor Bob Waldrop, who had long favored forming a school system in the city.
