Montgomery, Alabama Court Square. Traffic and passersby stream past this spot in Montgomery's Court Square, but the stately fountain above creates its own quiet zone of beauty and splashing water. Who designed the metal fountain remains something of a mystery. It is known that is was cast in New York and installed in 1885. Two years later, the fountain was painted bronze in honor of a visit by President Grover Cleveland and for years thereafter city residents thought that was the original color.
