Description
One of the oldest Episcopal parishes in Alabama, St. Paul's of Greensboro, recently celebrated its 150th year. The parish was organized in 1830 and the present church building, although modernized and expanded over the years, contains much of the original structure dating from 1840. In 1844 the church was the site of the election of the first Episcopal bishop in the state, Reverend Nicholas Hamner Cobbs, whose son served St. Paul's as rector from 1861 to 1912. Greensboro is in Hale County south of Tuscaloosa. (Churches-Episcopal)
