Description
The Gypsum Duchess, a self-unloading rock carrier owned by the U.S. Gypsum Co., has been unaffected to the longshoremen strike that is expected to end shortly. The Duchess is one of five ships docking once a week at the U.S. Gypsum plant in New Brighton, each carrying about 11,000 tons of rock. The view taken from Ft. Wadsworth shows it passing under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
