Destroyer O'Bannon Cited: The Destroyer O'Bannon (above) has been awarded a Presidential unit citation for "outstanding performance" against the Japanese the Navy announced April 3. Mentioned particularly were engagements off Guadalcanal, in the Kula Gulf and off Vella Lavella. The ship was launched at Bath, Maine, March 14, 1942.
