Description
The Reverend Bob Richards Olympic pole vault champion, fondly eyes keys representing a new Mercury he was given on TV's "This Is Your Life" program last night. Dan Ferris, secretary-treasurer of the AAU, said in New York today that Richards, who wants to remain an amateur and compete in the next Olympics, probably will have to return the car in order to retain his amateur standing. Richards is pastor of the Church of the Brethren in nearby Long Beach, but Ferris said "it must be assumed" Richards received the award because of his prominence as an athlete and not because of his church work.

Photo is dated 1955.
