Ruth Kemper of Cincinnati OH little more than twenty years of age showing the technique in wielding the baton while conducting an orchestra. Miss Kemper who many years ago was the child music prodigy of the Middle West has just returned from Europe where she topped off other notable achievements by winning the Lilli Lehmann gold medal for outstanding work in conducting at the Salzburg Orchestral Academy. The award was the first of its kind since 1916. Besides being an expert at leading orchestras Miss Kemper has also mastered the intricasies of the piano and the violin.
