Description
Urban Bush Women tell a story about the empowerment of women in "Bones and Ash: A Gilda Story," to be presented at 8 tonight at the Carver Community Cultural Center. "Bones and Ash" concerns an escaped slave girl who is taken in and nurtured by two vampire women in New Orleans. Instead of being purveyors of darkness and death, these two women bring enlightenment and healing to their community. "Bones and Ash: A Gilda Story" was based on a novel by Jewelle Gomez and choreographed by Zawole Willa Jo Zollar, director of Urban Bush Women.
