1966 Press Photo Sweden's princes Carl Gustaf & Bertil at Parliament opening

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Carl Gustaf... Sweden has two working princes - although one works only part-time: Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, 21, left, and Prince Bertil, 55, center, seen at the opening of Parliament in 1966 (Man at right not identified.) Carl Gustaf is still in school, but sometimes represents his country officially. He is the son of King Gustaf Adolf's eldest son, who was killed in a plane crash in 1947. Prince Bertil, the king's second son, serves as regent when the king is ill or out of the country. Bertil also travels widely as a sort of Swedish ambassador-at-large, with notable success.

Photo is dated 1966.

Photo measures 7 x 9.5 inches.
