Education and diversification have been recognized as necessities for the Society of Petroleum Engineers, who are having their 50th anniversary meeting in New Orleans this week. Both L.P. Calhoun, Jr., on a leave of absence from the Texas A&M University staff to be special science advisor to the Department of the Interior in Washington and who is to be installed as president of the group this week, were in agreement on these points.
