1964 Press Photo Drowning victim Leslie Newton goes for checkup with is mother

Going for a checkup is Leslie Newton, 7, who was pulled from the waters of Lake Pontchartrain Sunday and given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation by Robert J. Ducote. Leslie's mother, Mrs. Harry E. Newton, Houston, holds him, while Orleans Levee Board lifeguard supervisor John Pat Brechtel peers in the window. - Harry E. Newton will never have a better Father's Day present. His son, Leslie, 7, was found floating unconscious just off the seawall at Lake Pontchartrain, and the combined work of his rescuer, Jefferson Parish Fire Department Captain Robert J. Ducote, and Orleans Levee Board life guards, Billy Gruber, Dennis Weber, Richard Mayo and John Pat Brechtel, saved the youth.
