Accepting An "Alumni Award" of the University of Alabama Alumni Association from Elizabeth Carpenter, staff director and new director for Mrs. Lyndon Johnson, is Edgar Allen Poe. Poe was honored for his "outstanding journalism accomplishments," has been Washington correspondent for the Rimes Picayune for 21 years. He is treasurer of the Overseas Writers and White House Correspondents Association.
