Louisiana teachers rally in Baton Rouge in May 1984 - Education reform will be a hot topic in the upcoming legislative session, and the state's two teacher unions want a voice in the debate. The Louisiana Association of Educators and the Louisiana Federation of Teachers claim a majority of the state's 42,000 teachers as members. The organizations have grown increasingly active in politics in the past two decades.
