Description
The New York Public Library, at fifth avenue and 2nd street, has taken precautions against an A-bomb attack to protect its staff and many visitors. Above, Joseph Esposito, library employee, checks his inventory record of the food, cots, medical, and other necessary supplies stored in the basement shelter which is outfitted to keep more than 1,500 persons for ten days.
