Bastille Day - Lifting a toast in observance of the 169th anniversary of Bastille Day, France's equivalent of the U.S. Fourth of July, Monday night were Charles J. Leonard (left) consul general of Belgium, and Jacques Grellet, French consul general, both assigned to New Orleans. Bastille Day, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille, a prison in Paris, at the outset of the French Revolution July 14, 1789, was celebrated in New Orleans with a cocktail party at the St. Charles hotel and dinner given by the French consul general at Jerusalem Temple.
