NEW SIDES - Zero Mostel and Woody Allen, both foremost comic actors, star in straight dramatic roles in "The Front." Columbia Pictures release also starring Herschel Bernardi, a film based on real-life incidents in the 1950s when movie and television talents were blacklisted and writers used fronts to submit their scripts. The motion picture was produced and directed by Martin Ritt from a screenplay by Walter Bernstein. Zero Mostel and Woody Allen depart abruptly from their comic images to play straight dramatic roles in "The Front," opening October 22 on Milwaukee movie screens. The story recalls the persecution and blacklisting of film and television writers, directors and performers during the Senator Joseph McCarthy era of the 1950s. It it based on actual incidents.
