Description
Oilgear Company of Milwaukee built the important fluid power system for Mr. Gus II, a huge oil drilling barge that operates in deep water in the Gulf of Mexico. The rig's legs are four caissons and it is moved out of the water by hydraulic rams in steps of eight feet and two inches. Piles driven inside the caissons and anchors on each corner, as well as a large steel mat on the bottom, give Mr. Gus stability for drilling. The rig weighs 9,000 tons. Oil
