Description
The top photo shows the 4300 block of N. 14th street Tuesday. The bottom photo shows the same street scene one year ago when knee-high snowdrifts blocked traffic and made walking difficult. The temperature on January 11, 1982, had risen to about 5 below zero - 20 degrees warmer than the 25 below zero reading of January 10, which tied the all-time record low for Milwaukee. The noon temperature in Milwaukee Wednesday was 22 degrees. A lone walker huddled against the cold as he made his way up the 4300 block of North 14th street, where Sunday's high winds made picturesque mounds out of the snow.

Photo is dated 1962.

Photo measures 9.25 x 6.25 inches.
