Description
The Milwaukee public museum has acquired a six foot tall plater cast of an ancient Guatemalan monument. The cast was made by Walter Pelzer of the museum staff. He was a member of the taxidermy crew that collected specimens in Guatemala on an expedition sponsored by The Milwaukee Journal earlier this year. The monument representing jaguar, was found atop a Mayan pyramid and was later moved to the El Bual archeological site. It dates from the preclassic age (500 B.C. to 100 A.D.) and has stylistic form similar to that found in Asian monuments.

Photo is dated 1962.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
