Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
In Hanoi, North Vietnam, factories continue to operate while concealed from above. Few large industrial complexes are left to be bombed and the people, adapting to the continual raids, have begun a somewhat mole-like existence of daytime concealment and nighttime work. Production goals are listed in factories, while "emulation drives" and bonuses encourage high morale and efficiency under Communist Party cadres. In one of the evacuated tool factories, shown in this pictures, a crude furnace has been devised by these workers to add to the wartime effort

Photo is dated 1968.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
