1967 Press Photo Earl Cole demoted to Colonel, stripped of medal by Army

Brigadier General Earl F. Cole, above, of Alexandria, Virginia, has been reduced to the rank of Colonel, the Army announced today. Cole was also stripped of a Distinguished Service medal awarded him in 1968. The Army said the action was taken "because he failed to maintain a high degree of personal and professional integrity" while commanding the European exchange system.
