Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
At first glance it would appear that a Texas-size Stetson is perches on the side of the huge header-pipe which passed through the Port of Houston en route to Libya. Actually, it is a 60-inch nozzle and crotch plate for what is believed to be the largest pipe manifold ever made. Bechtel Corp., working with Howe-Baker Engineers of Tyler, Texas, furnished the manifold to Occidental of Libya, Inc., for use on a pipeline Bechtel is building in Libya for the Occidental Petroleum Corp. subsidiary. Houston, Texas.

Photo is dated 1968.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
