1973 Press Photo Charles Wilkes, Fish & Wildlife, checks tide marker in Houston

Charles Wilkes (a Fish and Wildlife technician) In 1959 when the tide marker was installed it was 6 feet above the mean low tide. Four weeks ago the National Geographic people surveyed and found that the marker is now 4.85 feet above mean low tide. Land Subsidence - Houston, Texas.
