Description
Freeport, Texas. Rains Bring High Water, Two days of rain brought flooding to low-lying sections of Freeport in Brazoria County, above, forcing about 40 persons to seek shelter in a community center Saturday night. The refugees planned to return to their homes today as the National Weather Service forecast diminished rain activity in southeast Texas. All roads in the area were open late Saturday. Isolated thundershowers were expected today, but a weather service spokesman said the additional rainfall would not cause further flooding in the area. Forecasters said the weather should begin to clear tonight over the Texas coast.
