Description

Charles C. Finucane, left, undersecretary of the army, helps Seaman C.J. Landy peel potatoes aboard the Navy submarine Clamagore cruising beneath the Gulf of Mexico. Finucane left his Pentagon desk to get a first hand look, along with other civilians, at the way the navy runs its subs. This picture, made Oct. 7, was released in Washington by the Defense Department, Oct. 11.
