Carmine De Sapio, once the most powerful Democrat in the state of New York, and his wife, Theresa, leave New York City's federal court Tuesday after the one time Tammany Hall leader was sentenced to two years in prison and fined $4,500 on charges of conspiracy to bribe a New York City water commissioner. The 61-year-old De Sapio was convicted Dec. 13 of charges stemming from a scandal involving former city water commissioner, James L. Marcus.
