BERKELEY, California -- IN NEW SURROUNDINGS -- Pete Elliott, former Michigan quarterback named head football coach at the University of California, and his wife Joan, pose at hotel today during press conference. Elliott, the 21st and youngest head man - at 30 -- in California's grid history was lured from Nebraska with a three-year contract. He succeeds Lynn O. (Pappy) Waldorf, 54, who announced his retirement before last season ended.
