Baseball Bill DeWitt, left, today was named general manager of the Cincinnati Reds succeeding resigned Gabe Paul. DeWitt reads a statement to the press after announcement of his appointment was made by Tom Conroy, right, secretary-treasurer of the club. Conrow acted for President Powel Crosley, Jr., who is recuperating in a Savannah, Ga., hospital from a heart attack. Terms of contract were not announced.
