Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bates are seen at a banquet given in their honor by the Pullman Cougar Club in Pullman when they received a silver-plated punch bowl with matching tray and cups. Seated at the right are Glenn Oman, assistant athletic director at Washington State University, and Mrs. Oman. Bates will leave Washington State University where he has been athletic director, July 1 to become commissioner of the Western Athletic Conference with headquarters in Denver. Bates has been director 17 of his 18 years there.
