Doug Bird, Royals righthander, winds up to pitch in middle innings of fourth playoff game against the Yankees at the Stadium Wednesday. Bird came in to relieve starter Larry Guru in the third inning and contributed four and 2/3 innings of good ball in helping his teammates to 7-4 to even up the series.
