Cugat, Xavier (Band Leader). Bandleader Xavier Cugat and his wife, Abbe Lane, tell police how a shabbily dressed man kidnapped and robbed them as they left the Pan Pacific Auditorium Wednesday night in Hollywood. Gunman let them out out a few blocks but robbed them of jewels valued at $20,000. Stolen items included his $2,600 watch and his wife's $9,000 10-karat solitaire.
