United Arab Republic President Gamal Abdel Nasser, left, has been shot by an assassin and badly wounded, the London Daily Telegram reported today, according to "strong" rumors circulating in the middle east. His reported assailant, the Telergraph said, is Ali Amer, right, brother of Field Marshal Abdel Hakis Amer, commander-in-chief of the UAR armed forces.
