Description
A view of the entrance to Jossingfjord on the rugged Coast of Norway which was put in the headlines with the revelation of a spectacular Naval action in which Norse Waters were invaded by British Warships. The British Craft Destroyers Cossack and Intrepid cornered the German Steamer Altmark which had been a convoy of the German Pocket Battleship Graf Spee before the latter was scuttled. The Britishers forced the Altmark aground in Jossingfjord and after a hand-to-hand boarding fight rescued 300 to 400 British Seamen held captive aboard the German Ship. The incident had immediate repercussions in London, Berlin and Oslo.
