1944 Press Photo Major George Strong retires as Chief of Army Intelligence

Major General George V. Strong, 65, retiring Chief of Army Intelligence who was succeeded by 47 year old Major General C. L. Bissell. General Strong who has spent 44 years in uniform was an AEF staff officer on the last war. He became a political and diplomatic expert and was a military attache in Berlin. He came home to command the General Staff's war plans division. General George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff, pinned on his distinguished service medal just before he retire.
