Former Premier Pierre Laval right in a line of workmen including a painter awaiting his turn to vote in the French elections of May 4th in which the biggest Communist vote in the history of the Third Republic was cast. The result of the voting was to make the Leftist Popular Front the political master of France and the Chamber of Deputies. A significant result of the elections was the victory scored by former Premier Edouard Herriot radical Socialist leader and outstanding advocate of French payment of the war debt owed the United States.
