Description
First Lieut Charles H Blackwell left of Detroit MI and San Antonio TX stands with Lt Col Emil G Beaudry of Manchester NH at Bluie West One Airbase Greenland Dec 28. Blackwell was the co-pilot of the C-47 which crashed Dec 9 on an Greenland icecap and Beaudry was the pilot of a jet assisted plane equipped with skis which rescued Blackwell and eleven others from the icecap.
