Description
If there is an aspiring surplus, this gentleman can use is handily. He is John Barringer, director of the office of surplus property in the department of the Interior's Division of territories and island possessions. His particular assignment, the one with the built in headache is to get the best prices he can for a multitudinous variety of items, ranging from tracts of land to sewing needles, which have been declared surplus by the Armed Forces in non continental United States. Since our own markets have their share of difficulties in absorbing war surpluses, salesman Barringer's big problem is to find markets elsewhere, from Shangrila to Timbuctu. A regional office has been opened in Puerto Rico. Others will follow in Alaska and Hawaii. Mr. Barringer hails from Flint Michigan.

Photo is dated 1945.

Photo measures 5 x 8 inches.
