1942 Press Photo C. Yates McDaniel Sees His Ship Sunk on Trip From Singapore

C. Yates McDaniel, noted Associated Press Correspondent, who was among the last to leave Singapore before the Japanese took over the city, saw his ship sunk on the trip from Singapore to Java, but made it to an island. It was Feb. 12 when he left Singapore. "During the day on the island, I worked on my notes of the last hours of Singapore," he wrote in explanation of this picture.

Photo is dated 1942.
