Special to the San Antonio Express-News --- Sea World's Growing Flamingo Family -- A Sea World of Texas Chilean flamingo keeps close watch over its 3-week-year-old chick at the San Antonio marine life park. Sea World of Texas' first-ever flamingo hatchling emerged from its shell following a 30-day incubation period, weighing less than open pound and measuring 4 to 6 inches in height. The chick is one of several hatched at the 250-acre park in recent weeks, joining an extensive collection of tropical and native birds that includes almost 100 flamingos representing two species, the Chilean and African Lesser. Sea World of Texas is open weekends this fall through November plus the day after Thanksgiving, November 27. More information is available by calling (512) 523-3611.
