New York -- 'Longest ride' now a dime -- Mayor William O'Dwyer today announces increase from five to ten cents in fare on city's subway and elevated lines -- most extensive underground and elevated transit system in the world. Boost takes effect July 1. Bus fares will be raised from five to seven cents. (New York)
