The Benedictine order has always greatly resembled the White House with its power and elitism , observes Muriel Spark, the Edinburgh born novelist photographed in London. Her impish imagination took the observation further and the result is her new satirical novel The Abbess of Crewe. setting the Watergate scandal inside a catholic convent in England,with characters such as the flying nun with the German accent who bid fair to equal Miss Jean Brodie in her prime.
